Postdoctoral position at Aalto University, Finland: atomistic simulations of doped graphene and inorganic 2D materials growth

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position on atomistic simulations relevant to the growth of graphene and inorganic 2D materials (BN, MoS2 etc.) and their characterization. The project is to be carried out at the Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University, Finland, in close collaboration with an experimental group (Prof. H. Lipsanen's group ) at the Department of Micro and Nanosciences, Aalto University and several transmission-electron microscopy groups in Europe.

The aim of the research project is to understand at the microscopic level and optimize the growth of 2D materials when chemical vapor deposition and ion implantation-mediated methods are used. The project will be carried out within the Centre of Excellence for Computational Nanoscience (COMP) at Aalto University. The Centre consists of about 100 researchers, working on the development and applications of advanced theoretical and computational methods for condensed-matter and materials physics and chemistry, including nanoscale systems.

The applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree and have a strong background in first-principles electronic structure calculations and theoretical condensed matter physics. Previous experience in electronic transport calculations and molecular dynamics simulations is a bonus.

The position is initially for 2 years with a possible extension for 2 years more. The position is available immediately. The salary range is 3300-3700 Euros/month (prior to taxation) depending on the qualification of the applicant and his/her performance, in accordance with the Aalto University salary system.
