Postdoctoral and PhD fellowships in computer modelling of chemistry and physics of carbon nanomaterials

Postdoctoral and PhD fellowships in computer modelling of chemistry and physics of carbon nanomaterials with Dr. Manuel Melle-Franco at University of Minho, Computer Science and Technology Center, Braga through the portuguese Fundation for Science Technology.

We are looking for outstanding candidates to work in theoretical and computational studies of carbon nanomaterials. Current research interests comprise but are not limited to:

(i) electronic properties of carbon nanomaterials

(ii) 3D structure of 2D graphene and GNRs

(iii) chemical reactivity and functionalization of carbon nanomaterials

(iv) In-silico study of unknown and uncharacterized materials, nanopores, nanocones, etc.

Methodologically the group works with QM, TB, MM/MD, multiscale and mesoscopic simulations with a large number of external and locally modified codes. Programming, modifying and/or developing models and codes is encouraged.

We have a large number of experimental collaborations with whom direct interaction of the hired researchers is foreseen.

Our group runs a cluster with > 500 cores and several state of the art GPUs.  Programming and software development projects are also available.

Requirements:

Postdoc fellowships are funded for six years (3 + 3) and are open to all nationalities.

Ph.D. Scholarships are funded for four years (3+1) and are ONLY available for european citizens or foreigners with permanent residence in Portugal.

Deadline for application is the 30th of July.

Job Application:

Send a full CV, with a short note saying the reasons for your applications and preferred research topic plus at least two reference letters before the 30th of July to manu@di.uminho.pt.Telephone contacts for formal or informal queries are welcome.
