Silvia Giordani wins 2012 L'Oreal-UNESCO Fellowship


Dr Silvia Giordani is the recipient of the 2012 L'Oreal-UNESCO UK and Ireland Fellowships For Women In Science for her work on a new avenue towards "smart" medicines.

The eight finalists, short-listed from 229 applicants, were interviewed on 28 June at the Royal Society in London by a panel of eminent scientists.

The four 2012 winners were announced on the evening of the 28th of June at an awards ceremony held at the Royal Society in London.

The Fellowships are awarded annually by L'Oréal UK & Ireland and the UK and Irish National Commissions for UNESCO, in partnership with the Royal Society. The £15,000 fellowships have been designed to provide practical help for the winners to undertake research in their chosen fields.
