Brief CV
Gagik Shmavonyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia on May 12, 1963. He got Master’s Degree in Engineering at State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) in 1985 and PhD Degree in Physics in 1996. He worked at SEUA as a junior and then as a senior research scientist at SEUA. In 2004 he became Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in 2007 at the Microelectronics and Biomedical Devices Department at SEUA. Currently he is Associate Professor and Head of Nanotechnology group at SEUA. He carried out his postdoctoral research at the Department of Electrical Engineering of National Taiwan University, Taipei from 2001 to 2002. He was a Visiting Professor at Optoelectronic Devices Laboratory, Department of Engineering of University of Hull, UK in 2000 and 2003, at Polytechnic of Milan, Department of Physics, Laboratory for Nanometric Epitaxial Structures and Spintronics, Como, Italy in 2004-2005, at Surface Science Group, Institute for Solid State Physics of University of Bremen, Germany in 2002 and 2006, at Physics Department, Free University of Berlin, Germany in 2011. He is author and co-author of 72 papers, 10 patents and 4 books. Current research interests are nanotechnology and nanoelectronics, semiconductor nanostructured optoelectronic devices. Associate Professor Shmavonyan is member of American Physical Society, Institute of Physics, London (Chartered Physicist) and St. Petersburg Scientists and Scholars Society (Russia).
