Brief CV
Dr. Rémi Longtin obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal in 2007 (Canada). His doctoral thesis, on the deterministic synthesis of carbon nanofibers by laser chemical vapor deposition, demonstrates the potential of laser-based approaches for the benign integration of carbon nanostructures in electronic devices.
As a materials scientist, he has 8 years of research experience in the synthesising and characterisation of carbon materials such as amorphous carbon, graphite, nanocrystalline graphite, carbon nanofiber and nanotubes. This core expertise is complemented by more than 3 years of post-doctoral research done in Switzerland in the field of colloids and interface science.

Presently, Dr. Longtin is working as a researcher at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology-Empa in Zurich, Switzerland, where he is participating in the development of technologies based on carbon nanotubes for field emission applications. In parallel, he investigates the interfaces between metals and carbon nanostructures. He is also active in industrial service projects for external corporate clients relating to brazing and soldering.
